The Methodist Church of Great Britain

Welcome to the Dove Valley Circuit

We are a rural circuit within the Nottingham and Derby District of the Methodist Church of Great Britain. Uttoxeter, an old market town visited by Dr Johnson, Draycott-in-the-Clay and Stubwood churches are in Staffordshire. The remaining churches, Boylestone, Church Broughton, Doveridge, Hatton and Hilton, are situated within Derbyshire. Historically, some of our churches have played a significant role in the development of Primitive Methodism in the early 1800s. Today, in all our churches you will find a warm welcome whether you are attending Sunday worship or a weekday event.

Circuit Services

On Monday 6th September 2010 the Circuit will hold a Welcome Service for the Rev Jimione Kaci at Hatton Methodist Church at 7.30pm. The Chair of the District, the Rev Lorraine Mellor, will preach.

Regular Circuit Activities

The Circuit has a number of regular activities, including a monthly prayer meeting on the second Saturday of each month, from 10.30am to 11am and Network, which also meets monthly. Network is the Methodist Church's national organisation for women while men meet similarly at Man to Man. Please click on the links below for details of their respective programmes. Circuit Services are held quarterly.

In July, the Circuit said 'goodbye' to the Rev John Adams, who has retired after seven years of service in this Circuit. We wish him well and a very happy retirement. In his place, we welcome the Rev Jimione Kaci from Fiji who will be working part-time in the Circuit.

The Circuit also welcomes the new District Chair, the Rev Lorraine Mellor, and it looks forward to working with her and the Holy Spirit's guidance as it take Christ's work forward in this area.
